May Superintendent's Message: Peace Learning Connection
The Peace River School Division is excited to announce that all of our diverse alternative education programs are now united under a new, cohesive name: the Peace Learning Connection.
Formerly Peace Home Learning Connection, the Peace Learning Connection proudly encompasses: the Peace Regional Outreach Campus, which has provided 30 years of adaptable learning environments for students needing an alternative to traditional schooling; the Fairview & Area Learning Store, a vital resource for personalized learning and support in the Fairview region; our ever-growing Virtual Education Program, which continues to offer high-quality online learning experiences, allowing students to access experts in several areas of high school education; and the Peace Home Learning Connection, our dedicated homeschooling program, which remains an integral part of this new collective by supporting families in our jurisdiction who choose to educate their children at home.
Dropping the word “home” from the name of our alternative education offerings is in no way signaling the end of our partnerships with our home learning community. Instead, renaming our alternative education program as Peace Learning Connection broadens the focus, and allows us to more accurately market these programs to the parents and students who need them.
At Peace River School Division, we recognize that every student is unique, with different learning styles, paces, and life circumstances. Each of the schools under the umbrella of Peace Learning Connection are designed to provide families with flexibility and students with the variable pathways they need to meet high school graduation requirements.
Our commitment remains unwavering: to be a first-choice school division by providing a world-class education to all students in rural northern Alberta. The Peace Learning Connection is a testament to this commitment.
