The School Operations department supports teaching and learning by ensuring that both the Division's facilities remain in excellent condition, are safe, and the Division as a whole is using technology effectively.

Managed by the Director of School Operations, the team includes IT Support, a maintenance supervisor, an operations supervisor, first aid coordinator, repairpersons, plumbers, electricians, and custodians.

Digital Learning Tools and Applications

Use of Digital Learning Tools (applications)

Peace River School Division (PRSD) uses a variety of digital learning tools and applications to support teaching, learning, and school operations. These include core applications (such as PowerSchool, Google Workspace for Education, and Microsoft 365) and other division-approved, low-risk applications that collect only limited personal information (such as a student’s name, PRSD email address, etc).

PRSD collects, uses, and discloses this information under the Education Act (Alberta) and the Protection of Privacy Act (POPA, as amended by Bill 33). Information is collected only for educational purposes, safeguarded appropriately, and retained in accordance with PRSD’s Records Retention Schedule, aligned with Alberta’s Information Management and Bill 34 requirements.

Parents/guardians will be notified and asked for separate, explicit consent if PRSD wishes to use any other app that is not considered core or low-risk.

As a school Division, Vulnerable Sector Checks are a consideration for contractors working in schools. However, please know that this isn't a universal requirement for all jobs. For example, work performed outside of school hours, when students aren't present, or at non-student-occupied buildings (like Central Operations or teacherages) may not require tradespeople to have a current Vulnerable Sector Check on file with the Division. We'll provide clear instructions regarding the need for a Vulnerable Sector Check as projects are assigned, ensuring you have all the information upfront.
