Fact Bulletin #7: The Education Plan: Our Roadmap for Student Success
Did you know... The PRSD Board of Trustees is legislatively required to develop a comprehensive Education Plan, which serves as the Division's primary roadmap for improving student learning and ensures our entire organization remains accountable?
This plan is the foundation for all strategic decisions and is directly linked to how the Division chooses to spend every dollar. It is the core document used to track progress and guarantee continuous improvement across the Division.
- Foundation of Accountability: The 5-Year Education Plan is an essential part of Alberta Education's Assurance Framework, which is designed to support accountability, transparency, and continuous improvement in the education system.
- Stakeholder Driven: While the Board sets the strategic direction, the framework requires strong engagement processes with local stakeholders (parents, students, staff, and community) to identify priorities and ensure the plan reflects the needs of our specific communities.
- The Budget Link: The Education Plan guides the annual budget process, ensuring that financial resources are deployed to achieve instructional priorities.
- Driving Key Initiatives: The current plan commits the Division to specific, high-priority work. The current priorities of the PRSD’s 5-Year Education Plan fall within three categories: literacy development, numeracy development and inclusionary culture.
