Staff Announcement: Principal at Lloyd Garrison School
The Peace River School Division is pleased to announce the appointment of Helen Wevik as the Principal of Lloyd Garrison School commencing in the 2025-2026 school year.
Ms. Wevik received a Bachelor of Education in Elementary Education through the University of Alberta in 2012. She went on to secure a Professional Specialization Certificate in Special and Inclusive Education from the University of Victoria in 2021 and then a Diploma in Special and Inclusive Education from the University of Victoria in 2022. Most recently, Ms. Wevik completed a Foundations of School Leadership course from the University of Alberta in 2023.
Ms. Wevik has been employed by the Peace River School Division since 2014 when she accepted a teaching position at Hines Creek Composite School, where she worked for a period of two school years. She then took on the role of Grade 1 to 6 teacher and Jr. High Physical Education Teacher at Lloyd Garrison School in September 2016. In this role, Ms. Wevik navigated the challenges of planning and teaching in a multigrade classroom, mentored student teachers, and served as Acting Principal during the 2022-2023 school year. Additionally, Ms. Wevik has demonstrated her commitment to providing high-quality education to all students by supporting the diverse needs of students through her role as the Inclusive Education Coach at LGS over the last seven years.
