Calling for Members at Large for the PRSD Audit Committee
The Peace River School Division is seeking three dedicated community members to join its Audit Committee as Members at Large. This is a vital opportunity for community members to contribute to the financial oversight and accountability of our school division.
Why an Audit Committee?
Under the Alberta Education Act, every school board is required to establish an audit committee. This committee plays a critical role in governance by:

Recommending external auditors to the board.

Reviewing the annual financial statements and reporting findings to the board.
The Audit Committee's work helps to ensure financial transparency and sound fiscal management, which are essential for maintaining public trust and effectively serving our students.
Who We're Looking For
We are looking for individuals who are passionate about education and committed to public service. While a financial background is an asset, it is not a strict requirement. We encourage individuals with diverse professional experiences and a strong desire to contribute to the community to apply. The ideal candidate will be a critical thinker who can provide valuable insights and perspective.
The committee meets once a year to review the audited financial statements. In 2025, this meeting will be held at the end of November.
