Alternative Education
At the PRSD we are proud of our Alternative Education programs, which includes two outreach programs, a high school virtual education program, and a homeschool education program.
Did you know you could join the PRSD team, while maintaining your right to choose what your child learns through a homeschool program? We are proud to support the local homeschooling community through our Peace Home Learning Connection. To learn more, or register with the PRSD's homeschooling authority, reach out to our Home Education Program Coordinator, Marian.
Land-Based Learning Opportunities
Our location in the Peace Region creates so many opportunities for our students to participate in a variety of land-based learning opportunities. From learning about plant medicines found right in our own backyards from Indigenous Elders, to hands-on learning about the fish lifecycle at Wilderness Park near Grimshaw, there is always a way we can incorporate the outdoors into our learning.
Full-Time & Part-Time Kindergarten Programs
Depending on which school your student attends, we are proud to offer a variety of Kindergarten and early learning programs. In the communities of Red Earth Creek, Peace River, Grimshaw, Berwyn and Fairview, our schools offer both full-time and part-time Kindergarten programs. In the communities of Nampa, Manning, Dixonville, Hines Creek, Worsley and Cleardale, we are proud to offer a variety of part-time programs. Whether you choose a part-time or full-time program for your little learner, all of our Kindergarten programs offer the same great play-based lesson plans where students receive a great introduction to school life through play.
Additionally, we also offer early learning opportunities for students who have diagnosed severe or moderate, and sometimes even mild, learning challenges. These students may have speech delays or other cognitive or physical delays or disabilities. At the Peace River School Division we know these programs are important in ensuring the long-term success of our students. By introducing these students to school a little bit earlier, and having these students access the learning supports they need to thrive, we are better able to set up these bright and imaginative students for academic success.

Working Together for EVERY Student
At the Peace River School Division our staff work together to promote a culture of Collaborative Response. But, what exactly is Collaborative Response?
As part of our 5-year Education Plan, our goals are to ensure students are successful in literacy, numeracy and through inclusionary practices. However, we acknowledge that this is nearly impossible a task for any one teacher. Enter Collaborative Response.
To learn more about exactly what Collaborative Response means to the PRSD, read our blog post here.
And so much more...
These are just some of the ways we endeavor to be a first-choice school division for our students. The PRSD also places a priority on student and staff wellness by employing an entire team of mental health support workers who are active both at the Divisional level and in each of our schools. It is always our goal to provide students an education in schools that are safe, welcoming and caring, free from racism, harassment and discrimination.
