A New Chapter in Long-Service Recognition: Part 2

For many years, Peace River School Division has proudly honoured the incredible dedication of our staff through a centralized Long-Service Awards Gala. These evenings were a wonderful opportunity to gather as a division and celebrate the milestones of our colleagues. We cherish the memories made at these events and the chance to collectively acknowledge the commitment that forms the backbone of our schools and the division as a whole.

However, the Division's commitment to inclusivity and ensuring that all members of our team have the opportunity to participate fully in these celebrations led to the Board of Trustees' decision in February of this year to evolve our approach to long-service awards.

Over the last couple of weeks, five more of our schools have recognized their long-service award recipients with site-based celebrations.

E.E. Oliver Elementary School celebrated the following staff members: 

  • Retiree Billie Keddie, Educational Assistant (EA)
  • Angela Dalke, Teacher, 10 Years

École Springfield Elementary School celebrated the following staff members:

  • Retiree and 35-Year Award Recipient Gail McNabb, Principal
  • Retiree Elaine Leer, Teacher
  • Robin Neufeld, EA, 5 Years
  • Sharon Pinard, EA, 5 years
  • Arzouma Kalsongui, Teacher, 5 Years
  • Kassandra Luce, Teacher, 5 Years
  • Shawna Ford, EA, 10 Years
  • Lenore Black, EA, 10 Years
  • Janice Holmstrom, Office Manager, 15 Years
  • Heather Aquino, Teacher, 15 Years
  • Christine McLean-Sleger, Teacher, 20 Years

Menno Simons Community School & Bear Canyon Colony School celebrated the following staff members:

  • Retiree Tina Fehr, Office Manager
  • Retiree Gina Dimion, Teacher
  • Andrew Hilton, Student Support Worker, 5 Years
  • Laura Lewis, EA, 10 Years
  • Anna Janzen, Teacher, 15 Years

Peace Regional Outreach Campus and Peace Learning Connection celebrated the following staff members:

  • Retiree Lorena Coombes, Social Worker
  • Retiree Donna Krammer, Teacher
  • Marian Johnson-Higgins, Teacher, 5 Years
  • Christopher Connell, Teacher, Virtual Education Program

Worsley Central School celebrated the following staff members:

  • Bill Shanessy, Teacher, 10 Years
  • Mikaela Tegart, Teacher, Edwin Parr Teacher Award nominee
