2023 Horizons Student Leadership Conference

This past Tuesday, May 24, both Grimshaw Public School (GPS), and Holy Family School (HFS), hosted the Horizons Student Leadership Conference at the Grimshaw Shared Schools Facility for students from the Peace River School Division and Holy Family Catholic Regional Division to attend.

The planning committee consisted of a dedicated group of students from GPS and HFS, who have spent the past couple of months planning and organizing the day's events. They organized everything from the technology used, catering, and publicity of the event, to the decorations, registration table, speeches, and activities.

The morning consisted of key note speakers, Mark Black and Dillon Mendes, who shared their stories and motivated students to be the change they wanted to see in their schools and communities. In the afternoon, the planning committee organized student led events for all in attendance, and they enjoyed playing games in the field house. During that time, the school Health Champions took in a session with the Horizons team and learned more about their organization.

The day wrapped up with presentations by the GPS and HFS hosts about the awesome opportunities their schools provide, and why they enjoy them.

It was an incredible day for all students, and an excellent chance for students to take initiative and put their leadership skills to use! THANK YOU to everyone who helped facilitate and execute this day, we greatly appreciated it!
