Special Meeting of the Board of Trustees: November 2, 2026

Board Meeting Highlights |

Additional Flag Display Application

The Board of Trustees passed a motion directing Administration to complete the Government of Alberta’s Additional Flag Display Application. The request seeks approval for PRSD to display the Treaty 8 and Métis Nation of Alberta flags year-round at all school sites and at Central Operations, as part of the Division’s ongoing work in responding to the Truth and Reconciliation Commission’s Calls to Action.

Rural Small Schools

The Board of Trustees further discussed the Division’s declining enrollment and its effect on the six small rural schools at the special meeting on November 2. Reflecting the Trustees’ desire to consult with each community where the Division has a small rural school, the Board voted 3-1 in favour of a motion directing Administration to develop a community engagement plan for each of the six communities, beginning with the communities served by Nampa Public School.

The engagement sessions will focus on working with local communities to generate creative, financially viable ideas and strategies that support the Division’s small rural schools, outside of enrollment.

Updated Board Policies

The Board of Trustees approved first reading of the following policies, which were all updated to be in compliance with the Alberta Education Act and the Government of Alberta’s Act to Remove Politics and Ideology from Classrooms:

  • Policy 2: Role of the Board
  • Policy 3: Role of the Trustee

  • Policy 10: Policy making
  • Policy 11: Board Delegation of Authority
  • Policy 12: Role of the Superintendent
  • Policy 19: Commitment to Safe and Caring Environments
