Google Summer School
At Peace River School Division, we are deeply committed to providing our students with the strongest possible foundation for their academic journey. We firmly believe that in today's world, technological fluency is no longer just an asset – it's a fundamental skill that underpins success in all areas of learning.
With an eye toward ensuring our students are exceptionally well-prepared for the rigors and opportunities of senior high school, we are excited to announce an important initiative for our Grade 9 & 10 students transitioning into this crucial stage of their education.
Empowering Our Grade 9 & 10 Students with Essential Digital Skills
All students in Grade 9 & 10 are eligible to participate in a focused four-week course designed to cultivate their proficiency in the Google Workspace environment. This program will allow them to earn six CTS 10 level credits, providing them with a significant head start as they move into their senior high studies. These courses include:
INF 1030 - Mastering the Fundamentals of Word Processing
INF 1060 - Developing Skills in Spreadsheet Applications
INF 1070 - Creating Engaging Digital Presentations
INF 1910 - Practicing Safe and Effective Browsing and Searching Techniques
COM 1255 - Understanding eLearning and Learning Management Systems
COM 1910 - Navigating Online Sources and Ensuring Digital Security
To encourage successful completion of all six credits, the PRSD is pleased to offer a Chromebook to every student who successfully meets all of the above course requirements. Please note: All courses must be completed in the same year to be eligible for the Chromebook program.
Additionally, while the above six courses are required to earn the chromebook, students have the option to complete an additional four job preparation/workplace safety courses for further credit. All grade levels can complete these courses, however, only Grades 9 & 10 are eligible for a chromebook. A maximum of 10 credits per year can be awarded during summer school.
HCS3000 - Workplace Safety Systems
HCS3010 - Workplace Safety Practices
CTR1010 - Job Preparation
AGR 3000 - Agriculture Safety
