Advocacy Priorities

The Peace River School Division's Board of Trustees are committed to advocating for the best possible educational experience for each of our students in all of our schools. Recently, the Board has identified six areas of emphasis under their advocacy plan.

Advocacy Priorities
  • 1 Fair and equitable funding
  • 2 Operations and maintenance funding for small rural schools
  • 3 Transportation and safety
  • 4 Student mental health supports
  • 5 Inclusive Schools: Access to supports for students requiring specialized programs
  • 6 Support for small rural schools in the areas of staffing recruitment and innovative program delivery options, such as the PRSD Virtual Education Program.

The Board plays a crucial role in ensuring these priorities stay top of mind for decision-makers whose choices impact our division. Through consulting with parents, staff, and municipal and provincial leaders, trustees continue to advocate on behalf of the PRSD, seeking to influence educational policies and investments to better meet the needs of their communities.
