Peace River School Division Secures $958,532 Grant to Enhance Youth Commercial Driver Pathway

GRIMSHAW, AB — The Peace River School Division (PRSD) is proud to announce it has been awarded a $958,532 Industry Advancement Grant from Alberta Transportation and Economic Corridors. This significant funding will support the Division’s North Peace Commercial Driving Academy in its delivery of the "Youth Commercial Driver Pathway," an innovative project designed to enhance the training, recruitment, and retention of Class 1 and Class 3 drivers in northern and rural Alberta.The Youth Commercial Driver Pathway addresses critical barriers to entry in the commercial driving sector by providing a structured, supported pathway for both PRSD and industry students. The project integrates four core components: academic accreditation through specialized high school micro-courses, high-fidelity simulator training, maneuvering yard skill development, and on-road instruction."This grant is a transformative investment in our students and the long-term viability of the North Peace Commercial Driving Academy.
