Dear Parents and Families,

I am writing to share an important change regarding the Peace River School Division (PRSD) Home Education Program. After careful consideration, the PRSD will no longer be offering the Home Education Program, effective for the upcoming 2026-2027 school year.

We have deeply valued the opportunity to partner with you in your child's education, and we recognize that this news may be unexpected. We want to acknowledge the real impact this transition may have on your family, and we are committed to making this change as smooth as possible for every family affected.

If your family is interested in transitioning to an in-person PRSD community school in your area, we are fully prepared to support you. I would be glad to meet with you and local school principals to assist with the registration process and ensure a warm, welcoming introduction for your child.

If your decision is to continue with a home education arrangement through a new supervising authority, below are three established home education programs offered through other Alberta public school boards that you may want to explore:

Each of these programs operates with its own specific guidelines, registration processes, and deadlines. We highly encourage you to reach out to them directly and at your earliest convenience to determine which program best aligns with your family's needs and to ensure a seamless transition.
