The Peace River School Division is pleased to announce the appointment of James Pobuda to the position of District Principal at Peace Learning Connection, effective August 2026.

Mr. Pobuda brings a wealth of experience and a deep understanding of Peace Learning Connection, having served as Vice Principal since August 2022. During this time, he has worked closely with other school-based and division-level leaders and developed strong relationships with staff, students, and families while gaining extensive knowledge of the programs and services that make Peace Learning Connection such an important part of the PRSD. 

Mr. Pobuda holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Geology from the University of Alberta (1992), a Fourth Class Power Engineering Certificate from SAIT (2001), and a Bachelor of Education degree from the University of Lethbridge (2002) with a major in Secondary Science. He began his teaching career with the Peace River School Division over 20 years ago and assumed his first administrative role in January 2018 as Vice Principal of Peace River High School, a position he held until his move to the Vice Principal role with Peace Learning Connection in August 2022. His extensive experience as a senior high mathematics and science teacher, combined with his proven leadership abilities, has prepared him well for this next step in his career.  

In his new role as District Principal, Mr. Pobuda will provide leadership to the students and staff at Peace Regional Outreach Campus, the Fairview and Area Learning Store, the Peace Home Learning program, and the Division’s Virtual Education Program. His commitment to student success and his understanding of alternative and flexible learning environments will be extremely valuable in supporting the diverse needs of the students and families served through these programs.
