On September 23, 2026, students from the Peace Regional Outreach Campus joined Elder Priscilla Lalonde and the Indigenous Education class from Peace River High School for a hands-on, land-based learning experience. Together, they explored local outdoor spaces in the Peace region to harvest traditional sage while learning about the sacred uses, medicinal properties, and cultural significance of native local plants.

Métis artist Pheb Goulet joined Outreach students on September 28, 2026, for a hands-on workshop focused on the vibrant tradition of Métis Inspired Dot Art.  Under Goulet’s guidance, students learned how to carefully plan their designs, select meaningful color palettes, and use specialized dotting tools to bring their canvases to life.

Local Indigenous artist Emily Sewepegaham was invited to the Outreach Campus for an engaging hands-on workshop centered on the intricate traditional practice of fish scale art on October 5, 2026. During the session, students learned about the history and patient technique required for this traditional craft.

Together, these fall cultural initiatives reflect the Peace Regional Outreach Campus’s ongoing commitment to land-based education, hands-on artistry, and community mentorship. Through these experiences, students not only gained practical skills and traditional knowledge, but also deepened their personal connection to the rich Aboriginal heritage of the Peace region.
