Peace River School Division is one of three Alberta school divisions featured in a video that highlights the value of Learning Coaches. “We are thrilled to have been asked to share our best practices, indicators of success, gaps and funding strategies through the research project and video” says Carol Fedoruk, Supervisor of Curriculum and Instruction. “Alberta Education Inclusive Education Branch believes that the work the division has done in terms of coaching to be beneficial. It is exciting to know that our successful Learning Coach model will positively impact students and staff throughout the province.”

On January 10, 2012, Education Minister Thomas Lukaszuk announced a 10-Point Plan for Alberta’s education system. The plan follows a province-wide face to face and online consultation on Alberta’s education system that included the voice of students, parents, staff and community members. Peace River hosted one of the seven face to face consultations on December 9, 2011 (pictured on the left). “We appreciate having the opportunity to voice the needs of northern and rural schools through the consultation process” says Paul Bennett, PRSD Superintendent.
