School Bus Safety Week - Oct 17-23, 2021
School Bus Safety Week is held the third week in October each year and encourages us all to focus on school transportation and school bus safety.
Transporting approximately 2,495 students each and every day, PRSD School Bus Drivers play an important role in ensuring the safety of its students as they have returned to in-school learning. Peace River School Division’s transportation staff and certified driver instructors provide bus drivers with comprehensive training and safety courses to ensure safe transport of students to and from school.
Bus Drivers are provided with 53.5 hours of training (18 hrs classroom, 11.5 hrs in yard, and 24 hrs 1-on-1 driving) in addition to the Mandatory Entry-Level Training for Class 2 Drivers (MELT) program, the School Bus Driver Improvement Program (S-Endorsement) and First Aid.
