Saxon Butte appointed as District Principal for PRSD

Peace River School Division (PRSD) is pleased to announce the appointment of Mr. Saxon Butte as District Principal overseeing PRSD's Virtual Education Program, Peace Home Learning Connection, Peace Regional Outreach Campus, and High School Hutterite Colony Programming for the 2021/2022 school year.Saxon received his B.Sc. in Biological Sciences with a Business minor from the University of Alberta. He then Entered the Bachelor of Education in Secondary Education (with Distinction) with the University of Alberta. Saxon majored in General Sciences and had a CTS Business minor with a focus on instructional technology, CTS communication technology, and career education. Later in his teaching career Saxon successfully finished his Master of Education from the University of Alberta in Leadership and School Improvement. His focus during his masters was on school and educational improvement, collective teacher efficacy, and curriculum studies.Saxon was hired as a senior high Science teacher at Grimshaw Jr/Sr High School in 2014 where he quickly took on a position of Science Department Head. He also coordinated alternative senior high school programing including homeschooling and courses taken through Alberta Distance Learning Center and the Peace Regional Outreach Campus. In 2016 Saxon became an Assistant Principal of Grimshaw Jr/Sr High School and helped lead his school in a K to 12 merger with Kennedy Elementary School. In 2017 Saxon became the Vice Principal of Grimshaw Public School where he continued his teacher duties in high school Biology 30 and Chemistry 30 in-person and Blended Learning classes for PRSD students. In 2018 Saxon took on the role of Principal of Grimshaw Public School where he has enjoyed great success in bringing two former schools together to form the largest school within our school division. Saxon brings the necessary skillsets to the role of Peace River School Division District Principal and the school division will benefit from his knowledge and leadership.
