The Board of Trustees is pleased to announce that Adam Murray has been appointed as the new Superintendent of Schools for Peace River School Division effective September 1, 2021.
Darren Kuester, Chair of the Peace River School Division Board of Trustees, comments, “Our Canada-wide advertising resulted in a significant number of applications. Mr. Murray was selected from the group because of his demonstrated leadership capabilities, his commitment to excellence in serving our students, and his familiarity with the Division.”
Adam Murray has been a teacher and administrator for 19 years. After a successful teaching career with Edmonton Public Schools, in 2010 he joined Peace River School Division as Acting Principal of Whitelaw Academy. He has since been principal of Hines Creek Composite, Kennedy Elementary School, Grimshaw High School, and Grimshaw Public School. Three years ago, Adam Murray moved to Division Office as Assistant Superintendent of Human Resources.
Upon his appointment, Adam stated, “Peace River School Division has an excellent reputation in all aspects of public education. Declining rural enrolments, an increased diversity in students served, and the need for alternative delivery of education are challenges which face our Division. I look forward to facing these challenges together. I am honoured to be chosen to serve as Superintendent of Schools. I am humbled and ready to lead the school division as we continue our mission of Learning Together: Success for All.”
Adam Murray received a Bachelor of Education (2002) and a Master of Education in Educational Studies (2014) from the University of Alberta.
Peace River School Division provides comprehensive educational programs and services to 3100 students, kindergarten through to grade twelve. Quality education programs are offered in 21 schools located in the communities of Berwyn, Cleardale, Dixonville, Fairview, Grimshaw, Hines Creek, Manning, Nampa, Peace River, Red Earth Creek, Worsley and on three Hutterite Brethren colonies.
