Friends of Education Award
Alberta School Boards Association Friends of Education 2021 Award was given posthumously to Jo-Anne Shaw and accepted on her behalf by her two daughters, Andrea Shaw and Julie Shaw, and Jo- Anne's two granddaughters who attend E.E. Oliver Elementary School, Clara and Lane Shaw. The award was presented by Ward 6 School Board Trustee, Robyn Robertson. Robyn mentioned in her presentation that Jo-Anne was one of the first people to welcome Robyn into the Fairview community many years ago when she visited the community. Her kindness to others and sense of community will not be forgotten.
Jo-Anne Shaw was Peace River School Division's first Family Liaison Worker in the Fairview area and worked with students from both Public and Catholic School divisions. She was very passionate about supporting students' mental and overall wellness and her years as a nurse gave her the tools to make a huge difference for the kids and families in the community. Her contributions continue to have a lasting effect on student wellness in Fairview and throughout the Peace Region. This was a wonderful presentation for the family in recognition of Jo-Anne's accomplishments.
