High School Virtual Education Program

Peace River School Division’s (PRSD) Virtual Education Program (VEP) is available for students in grades 10-12 in all PRSD schools. Students receiving instruction through the virtual education program will have access to specialized teachers in all subject areas, regardless of the geographic location or school size. The VEP follows the same timetable as all PRSD high schools and students can receive very little to all of their high school programming through the VEP while registered and attending their local community school. Relationship building is a key aspect of the program and various ways to meet and interact are built into the program. Teachers will meet with students through whole class, small group and individual Google Meet sessions and VEP teachers will visit each school site at least once per semester to meet students in person. The VEP provides high school students with online access to courses required to graduate while at the same time, remaining entrenched in the culture of their school site. In addition to their online teachers, there will be a school supervisor present for each virtual education class.
To learn more about the program, please contact your local school principal or PRSD District Principal, Saxon Butte at buttes@prsd.ab.ca.
