Official Ward One School Trustee By-Election Results

February 14, 2020 –Following the resignation of the Peace River School Division (PRSD) Ward One (1) trustee in November 2019, Peace River School Division held a By-Election, with Marie Dyck successfully submitting a nomination before the 12:00 noon deadline on February 12, 2020.

Marie Dyck is now the school trustee for Ward One, representing the areas of Peace River, Nampa and Red Earth Creek.  “We welcome Marie as Ward One trustee and look forward to working with her in her new role,” says Board Chair Darren Kuester.
 

Mrs. Dyck has an extensive and impressive list of giving back to the community, which has included serving as the councillor for Northern Sunrise County for seven years, and as the chairperson for the Nampa Museum Board for 12 years.  Marie is currently the Board Governor for Northern Lakes College.

Marie grew up and raised her family in the Nampa area, where she currently resides with her husband, Dave. She stated, “  I love to spend any extra time with my family; they mean the world to me.” Marie and Dave’s family includes three children, three grandchildren, and one great-grandchild.

When asked why she wanted to be a trustee for Peace River School Division, she said “I have been involved in public service for forty years, and I love giving back to the community,” she goes on to say, “I am very excited about being a trustee, I pride myself on being very accessible to the boards I serve, and I believe I have the experience and dedication to make a positive impact with Peace River School Division.”

Marie will participate in an orientation for her new role which will occur on February 21, 2020.
