PRSD calls for By-Election to fill Ward One vacancy

The Peace River School Division (PRSD) Board of Trustees will hold a By-Election to fill the vacancy of Ward one trustee. The Ward one trustee represents the communities of Nampa, Peace River and Red Earth Creek. Nomination day is set for February 12, 2020.

“School trustees represent students, parents, staff and community members and are a link for school communities to connect and inform the board,” says Darren Kuester, PRSD Board Chair. “It is very important that all our communities are represented.”

Kuester adds that being a school trustee is a rewarding and flexible role. “School trustees connect with the community, are involved in educational planning, decision making, budgeting and school improvement at a local and divisional level. At the zone and provincial level, trustees have opportunities to contribute to educational decisions through various organizations and government consultations.

Interested individuals can drop off completed nomination forms at PRSD Central Operations located at 4702-51 Street, Grimshaw, until noon on February 12, 2020.  Nomination forms can be found here.  Kuester invites interested individuals to contact him at 780-618-8607 for more information about the role. Rhonda Freeman, PRSD Secretary-Treasurer, can be contacted at 780-624-3601 for information regarding the process and forms.

Elections will occur on March 25, 2020, if more than one nomination form is submitted on Nomination day. In the event of an election, polling stations will be in place at Peace River High School, Red Earth Creek School and PRSD Central Operations.
