– Peace River School Division (PRSD) warmly congratulates Paul Bennett, PRSD Superintendent of Schools and Karen Penney, PRSD Deputy Superintendent of Schools who recently graduated from the University of Western Ontario with Doctor of Education Degrees in Educational Leadership.

“Paul and Karen have worked extremely hard over the past three years to complete the Doctorate Degree program and the fruits of their labour have, and will continue to benefit the division and the communities we serve” says PRSD Board Chair Darren Kuester. “Their extensive studies have increased their knowledge in a broad range of current educational topics relevant to K-12 education, as well as their specific areas of focus.”

During the Doctoral program, Bennett focused on Educational Leadership by writing on “Educational Partnerships in Mennonite Communities.” Penney focused on Educational Leadership by writing on “Cultural Proficiency for Indigenous Student Success.”  The program required an extensive literature review and an Organizational Improvement Plan (OIP) to be written as a culminating project in fulfillment of the degree. Their work is published in the OIP Repository at the University of Western Ontario Library.

“On behalf of the board of trustees, we extend congratulations to Paul and Karen for this significant achievement” says Kuester. “They certainly model the importance of life-long learning, and PRSD’s mission statement ‘Learning together – Success for All.’

Bennett and Penney completed their programs in August and celebrated their convocation in London on October 25, 2018 at the University of Western Ontario.
