New Principal at Menno Simons School
Peace River School Division is pleased to announce the appointment of Kathleen Roul to the position of Principal of Menno Simons School beginning with the 2018-19 school year.
Kathleen received her Bachelor of Education from Memorial University of Newfoundland in 1991 as well as completing her Bachelor of Arts the same year. She went on to obtain her Masters of Education in 2002 with her thesis focusing on “Finding Voice: Forty Five Years of Struggle to Keep a Community School, 2002”. Kathleen also holds various certificates since graduating which include Diagnosing Dyslexia, Mediation Skills Training Level 1, and Non Violent Crisis Intervention Prevention Training to name a few. In addition she has extensively participated in Professional Committee Work.
Kathleen began her teaching career in 1991 as an Intermediate/Senior High English Teacher with the Burin Peninsula School Board, NL. In 1994 she secured a Vice Principal role and then moved on to become Principal in 2004. Kathleen joined the Newfoundland and Labrador English School District Central Office as a Senior Education Officer, Instruction and School Leadership from 2009 – 2016. In this position, she focused on various educational initiatives and instructional leadership in schools, in particular the area of literacy. She brings a wealth of experience as a teacher and administrator in Grades K-12 schools with rural schools/community being her passion.
