PRSD's Pink Shirt Day T-shirt design contest - win an iPad!
PRSD is thrilled to announce the launch of PRSD’s Pink Shirt Day student T-shirt design contest. During the week of Pink Shirt Day (February 22, 2017), PRSD students will express their creative talents as they illustrate the importance of healthy relationships by creating a T-shirt design. The divisional winner will receive an iPad and have their design on PRSD’s 2018 and Pink Day T-shirt in future years.
Each year, on the last Wednesday in February, schools across Canada wear pink in recognition and support of healthy relationships and the overarching goal to eliminate bullying in schools and communities. Learn more about how Pink Shirt Day started here.
PRSD schools usually purchase Pink Shirt Day T-shirts from outside vendors and in December of 2016, PRSD discussed the value of PRSD launching a student-based contest to create a PRSD design.
There will also be an educational component offered to classroom teachers to introduce the contest in the form of classroom discussion topics. “The contest will generate more conversations and deeper thinking surrounding the importance of respect, acceptance and kindness of others” says Board Chair Darren Kuester.
Each school will develop a process to choose one semi-finalist from each school and submit their school entry to the board of trustees for judging.
Trustees will judge entries submitted from each school at the April 18, 2017 regular board meeting and the winner will be announced and presented with the iPad contest prize during Mental Health Awareness Week (May 1-5, 2017).
