Pioneers Alberta Bowl Bound

The Peace River Pioneers beat the Stettler Wildcats to punch their ticket to the Alberta Bowl for the second straight season. The Alberta Bowl represents the Provincial Championship, this will be the third time the Pioneers have played this game.

Pioneers Back to Back to Back Peace Bowl Champions!!!

The Peace River Pioneers beat the St. Joes Celtics this weekend to cap off the 2010 season with their 3rd straight MPFL Peace Bowl Championship. The win completes the Pioneers 3rd straight perfect MPFL season and gives the Pioneers 26 straight overall wins vs the MPFL. The team also adds its 5 th Perfect MPFL season in 9 years. The team now heads off to Provincials and another date with the Beaumont Bandits.

The Pioneers are only the second team in MPFL history to win 3 titles in a row. The Pioneers also currently hold the record for longest active divisional win streak in all of Alberta.

Pioneers clinch first place for 5th time in 6 seasons

The Peace River Pioneers beat the GPCHS Warriors this weekend to clinch first place in the MPFL for the 4th straight season. This marks the 5th time in 6 season the Pioneers have been first place in the MPFL regular season. With a win this weekend vs. the Whitecourt Cats the Pioneers will win their 25th straight regular season game and clinch their 4th straight undefeated regular season. In their 8 year history this could be the Pioneers 6th undefeated regular season, making them one of the most successful programs in the entire province over that period.

Pioneers extend Regular Season Undefeated Streak to 23

The Peace River Pioneers beat the PWA Tiatns this week to extend their MPFL record for regular season wins in a row to 23 this past weekend. The Pioneers will have a chance to get 24 with a win this weekend over the always tough GPCHS Warriors. The streak dates back to the last last week of the 2006 season.

10 Future Pioneers make Alberta summer games

The Peace River Pioneers are proud to announce that following 10 future Pioneer players were selected this past weekend to represent Zone 8 at the 2010 Alberta summer games. 10 players is a Pioneer record for players to make the team. The games are to be held here in Peace River.

3 Pioneers make Senior Bowl squad

The 2010 MPFL season is starting very sismilar to the way the 2009 one did. With three Pioneers and coach Friskie representing the team at the annual North South game. O-line Kirby Fletcher and Josh Reath will play one last game beside each other as Left guard and Tackle, while RB Eddy Nkunzi will have the chance to run behind them for one last game. Congrats boys you represent us very well.

Pioneers Alberta Bowl Bound!!

The 2009 Pioneers will take their 2 MPFL Peace Bowl Championships and the Northern Alberta Tier III Campionship they won this past weekend in Sylvan Lake, to Edmonton this weekend and put them on the line for a chance to become the 2009 Provincial Champs. The #3 Pioneers will take on the #1 Brooks Buffalos @ 2:30 Saturday Novamber 21 at Foote Field in Edmonton. This is the Pioneers second time in the Gold Medal game, the first time being back in 2003.

Pioneers get a Second Chance

In last years North Final the Sylvan Lake Lakers beat the Pioneers 43-34, in what was one of the best High School football games played all year. This year the two teams have been on a collision course hoping to get a chance at round 2. The Pioneers will take on the Lakers this Saturday in Sylvan Lake for a chance to go to the Alberta bowl.

Pioneers 2 Strong!!!

This weekend saw the Pioneers capture thier second straight Peace Bowl championship, by beating the GPCHS Warriors 29-15 in GP. The game saw many strong performances by Pioneer players. Game MVP honours went to Pionner RB #9 Eddy Nkunzi for several long and timely runs. The Pioneers will now face the Beaumont Bandits in Provincials.

Pioneers vs. Warriors Peace Bowl Final

We all knew it would come to this, in a game that has quietly become a bit of a tradition, the Peace River Pioneers will face the GP Comp Warriors for the third straight year in the Peace Bowl. The game is set to be a great as both teams are 1-1 in the last two games and the rubber match has both teams primed and ready to go.

Pioneers clinch 4th undefeated MPFL Regular Season in 5 years

With a tough win over a very improved St. Joe's Celtics team the Peace River Pioneers have completed their 3rd straight undefeated 1st place regualr season. Congrats Boys, that is a great accomplishment. Good luck in the playoffs, let the second season begin.

Pioneers contribute to North victory

On a cold rainy day the Peace River Pioneers were able to prove they are among the provinces best football players. The game was a 38-19 victory for the team from the North, which was led in touchdowns by Pioneer Danny Sawchuk who had two second quarter TD's. Also helping the offence Chase Moore, played a great game coming up with big block after big block as the offence relied heavily on him to open up the inside run game. The North Defence was lead by Team North most valuable lineman Linden Gaydosh, who applied constant pressure, and shut down a very potent south run game. In true Pioneer fashion Cam Laliberte saved his biggest plays for the biggest time, with the south driving in the 4th quarter Cam came up with an 11 yard sack, on the 13 yard line to save a sure TD, and help seal the victory for the North.

2009 Starts off with 4 Pioneers on Provincial All Star Teams

After having limited success at Alberta all star camps the Peace River Pioneers have had a breakthrough year. This year the Pioneers had 3 player make the U-19 North Allstar team. Dan Sawchuk, Chase Moore and Cam Laliberte will represent Peace River at the big game May 18 in Calgary. Linden Gaydosh 3 year Pioneer will also be joining the boys on the team. Braden Schram will be a provicial allstar making the U-17 North allstar team as a Linebacker.

Most of the rings have arrived in town, after waiting for what seemed like forever they are here and are nicer than we could ever haved hoped. Great work Boys!!

Pioneers to host Northern Final

For the first time i nTeam history the Peace River pioneers will host the provincial Semi final. The game will pit the two remaining undefeated teams in tier III. The game will see the 11-0 Pioneers host the 12-0 Sylvan Lake Lakers. The winner will play for the provincial Championship in Edmonton on the 22nd.

Pioneers capture 2nd Peace Bowl!!

For the second time in their history the Peace River Pioneers are Peace Bowl Champions!! The Pioneers beat the GP Warriors 31-8 at home to claim the MPFL's top prize. The game saw Pioneer QB Joel Charlebois throw 3 TD's and run for another, to win the game MVP award. The Pioneer Defence led by League MVP Cam Laliberte also had a great day keeping the Warriors off the board, with the Warriors only points coming off a kick return.

Pioneers to host 3rd Peace Bowl in 4 years

For the third time in four years the Peace River Pioneers will host the MPFL Peace Bowl Championship. For the second year in a row the Pioneers will host the GP Warriors. The Game will be a rematch of last years game in which the Warriors beat the Pioneers 4-3in a great football game.

Pioneers clinch 1st place

For the third time in four years the Peace River Pioneers have finished their regular season undefeated and in 1st place. The team has two exhibition games remaining before playoffs start.

Pioneers #4 team in Alberta

After a successful spring and preseason campain the Peace River Pioneers have begun the 2008 season as the #4 ranked team in the Football Alberta Tier III rankings. Congrats boys your hard work is being recognized and rewarded.

Kirby Fletcher U-17 Provincial All Star

Peace River Pioneers are proud to anounce that OL Kirby Fletcher has made the 2008 U-17 Northern Aberta All star team. Kirby was selected from over 150 candidates to represent Northern Alberta in Lennoxville Quebec this summer at the Football Canada cup. Well Done Kirby!!!!

2008 Pioneers Spring Camp set to be a good one

Peace River Pioneers will be hosting thier 7th annual spring camp starting May 26 and ending June 7th. The camp will include a trip to Ardrossan on May 30-31, and a trip to Whitecourt on June 7th. Contact Coach Friskie or Gust for registration forms.

Pioneers win 1st Provincial game since 2003.

The Peace River Pioneers hosted the Holy Trinity Trojans this week, in the Provincial 1/4 finals and won the game 11-2. the win sends the the Pioneers to Stettler this weekend. The Pioneers have never played Stettler. The game this weekend should be a dandy. The winner will play the Southern Alberta champion November 24 in Southern Alberta.

Pioneers and 3 other MPFL temas set to go to Provincials

The Peace River Pioneers traveled to Whitecourt this past weekend for the right to represent the MPFL in the ASAA provincial playdowns. The Pioneers beat the Cats 63 -0 and will now host the Edmonton Metro rep on Saturday @ 2:00 on Glenmary field.

Joining the Pioneers in Provincial Playdowns from the MPFL will be Sexsmith who will bw hosting Vegreville, Peace Wapiti Academy, who will play their first ever provincial game in Sylvan Lake, and the GPCHS Warriors who will be in Edmonton to take on the Bev Facey Falcons.

Pioneers to host 2nd Peace Bowl in 3 Seasons

The Peace River Pioneers traveled to Grande Prairie this past saturday to take on the Sexsmith Sabres in the MPFL Peace Bowl Semi-Finals. It will be the second time the Sabres and Pioneers had met in the playoffs. This time however went more the way the Pioneers would have hoped. Although they started slow, the Pioneers were leading 28-7 at half and won the game with a final score 63-13.

The Pioneers will now host the always tough GPCHS Warriors for a chance to hoist the Peace Bowl for the second time in three years. the game is a rematch of the night game held in Peace River September 20, in which the Pioneers pulled out a victory 28-21. This promises to be the game of the year.

Pioneers Enter Playoffs as Top Seed

The Peace River Pioneers travel to Grande Prairie this saturday to take on the Sexsmith Sabres in the MPFL Peace Bowl Semi-Finals. It will be the second time the Sabresand Pioneers have met in the playoffs.

McMahon Stadium

The Peace River Pioneers traveled to Calgary this past Thanksgiving weekend, to take on the #3 ranked St. Paul Lions under the lights of McMahon Stadium. The game was an excellent game with the Pioneers pulling out a close one 49-15. The win pushes the Pioneers record to 6-1 on the season.

The boys will be back in action this friday when the Whitecourt Cats come to town for an exhibition game.

Pioneers clinch First Place

The Peace River Pioneers with their win over the #1 Ranked Tier IV Sexsmith Sabres, have clinched 1st place in the MPFL. The Pioneers last finished in first place two years ago.

Pioneers win under the Lights

The Peace River Pioneers played this past thursday under the lights at home. The game was the second time the Pioneers were able to bring in the temporary lights for a home night game. And for the second time the lights proved to be good luck as the Pioneers beat the GPCHS Warriors 28 - 21 in one of the most exciting football games held in Peace River in a long time. Thank you to Dalyn Contracting for donating the lights and for setting them up.

Pioneers start 2007 MPFL season with win over strong SPSS team.

The Peace River Pioneers began their 6th season of MPFL action this past friday, by beating the very strong SPSS Penguins from Dawson Creek. Using a strong run game and an excellent defence the Pioneers won the game 34 - 15. The game was also the annual welcome back to school game and had all the students from PRHS, Glenmary and T.A. Norris in attendance.

The Pioneers remain the #1 ranked team in Tier III for the third straight week.

Pioneers start 2007 season as #1 ranked Tier III team in Alberta

The Peace River Pioneers have recieved a huge honour this week being ranked #1 in Alberta for Tier III Football. This is the second time in team history that we have been ranked #1 in Tier III.

Pioneers Vs. Jasper Place

This past Saturday the Pioneers were able to work hard to better themselves, by both practicing against, then playing the Jasper Place Rebels. Fresh off their 31 - 6 victory over the Strathcona Lords in the Edmonton Public League J.P. loaded the bus for the Peace Country. On friday night the teams practiced together, and enjoyed a BBQ and a T- Shirt exchange. An excellent evening followed by the First game ever played on the Pioneers new field. Peace River won the Game 34-6.

Pioneers Spring Camp an excellent Success

The 6th annual Peace River Pioneers spring camp ended June 9th with a Jamboree in Whitecourt, and the Pioneer player showed that this could be another excellent season. The Team took on 4 teams from around Northern Alberta, Bellrose Bulldogs from St. Albert, St. Albert High, Whitcourt Cats and the GPCHS Warriors, ending up with a combined score of 15 TD's for and only 2 against. The Highlight of the day came in beating the Tier 1 St. Albert Skyhawks 4 touchdowns to 0.

6th Annual Pioneers Spring Camp off to great start

The 6th annual Peace River Pioneers spring camp started Monday and looks to be the start of an excellent year. The 2007 version will feature returing starters to every offensive and all but 1 defensive position, plus the infusion of new talent this camp promises to create great competition and a fun atmosphere for all.

Pioneers Girls Football gets underway!

The Pioneers are pleased to announce that this year there will be an all female team entering the Female versio of the MPFL. The League already consists teams from Sexsmith, GPCHS, Valleyview and Whitecourt. The Girls will enter this season with an exhibition schedule, and if all goes well join the league full time next season. Practices will be held Monday, Wednesday and Friday at Glenmary field.

Linden Makes it a Family affair

The Pioneers are pleased to announce that Linden Gaydosh has matched the feat of his older brother Jay by being selected to the Northern Alberta U17 all star team. Linden will travel to Lennoxville Quebec to represent the Pioneers and Northern Alberta in the First annual Football Canada Cup.

2 Pioneers make Team North

The Pioneers are pleased to announce that two Pioneers have made the Northern Alberta Senior bowl team, well sort of. Jon Gaydosh and former Pioneer Rob Pawlowich both made the North Team this weekend, representing themselves and the Pioneers very well.

2007 Pioneers Schedule Released

The Pioneers 2007 schedule has been released and promises to make for a very exciting year. Some of the highlights include a visit by the Jasper Place Rebels, trips to Fort McMurray and Calgary to play in MacMahon Stadium.

Pioneers to take on St. Joes to go to Provincials

The Pioneers will take on St. Joes this Saturday @2pm in Peace River. The winner will represent the MPFL in the ASAA Tier III Provincial Playdowns. The Pioneers have been in the Provincial Playdowns for three straight years, the longest such streak of all Northern Alberta Tier III teams.

Sexsmith Sabres win Peace Bowl 2-1

Congrats to the Sexsmith Sabres who won the Peace Bowl 2-1 over the G.P. Comp Warriors. It is the Sabres first Peace Bowl under Head Coach Trevor Prichard, and is a cap to a great year for the Sabres!!!!

2 Pioneers win MPFL Awards

Linden Gaydosh and Danny Sawchuk did themselves and the Pioneers proud by winning MPFL league awards Saturday night. Linden was recognized as the MPFL's best Dfensive lineman

Saturday May 6 was an excellent day for Peace River Pioneers football. With 75 athletes trying out for 30 spots plus 5 alteranate spots, it was going to be tough to make the team. True to form the young men of Peace River stepped up and represented this area just like we thought they would.

Pioneer Named to the "North" All Star Team

Congatulations to Matthew Klymiuk for being only the second player from the Peace River Pioneers football club to make the the Northern Alberta Senior Bowl Team. Matt will be representing the Pioneers May 22nd when he and the rest of the Norhtern Alberta all stars take on the South at Clarke Stadium in Edmonton.

Provincial Quarter Final!

This Saturday November 12, the Peace River Pioneers will host the always tough Beaumont Bandits, for the right to go to the Northern Alberta Tier III Final. This will mark the Pioneers third straight year in the Alberta Tier III provincial playdowns.

 

We are the Champions!

This Saturday saw the Pioneers do something no team from Peace River had done since 1987. The Peace River Pioneers are the 2005 Peace Bowl Champions! After a slow start which saw the Pioneers fall behind 10-0 at the half to a strong SPSS Penguin team, the Pioneers scored 20 unanswered points to win their first ever Peace Bowl Championship!

MPFL Peace Bowl Championship

This Saturday the Peace River Pioneers will host the SPSS Penguins from Dawson Creek in what promises to be one of the best games of the year in the MPFL. This Saturdays game will be the first time the Peace Bowl has been held in Peace River since 1987. Kick off is set for 2:00pm.

 

Pioneers Ranked #1 in the Province

For the first time in three seasons someone other than the Cochrane Cobras are ranked as the number #1 Tier III football team in the province. On the strength of their undefeated season thus far the Pioneers leaped past the Cobras in last weeks Football Alberta Provincial rankings. The team will be defending this ranking this week when they take on the Beaverlodge Royals in the MPFL semi- finals this Saturday at 2:00pm.

Pioneers clinch First place!!

The Peace River Pioneers have clinched first place in the MPFL Peace Division, after completing an undefeated 5-0 regular season (6-0 overall). The Pioneers will be off until Saturday October22, when they will face the 4th place team for a chance to go to their 2nd Peace Bowl in 3 years.

Pioneers beat Comp!

For the first time in team history the Peace River Pioneers were able to do something that very few teams can claim; they beat the Comp Warriors. The game saw the Pioneers play their best football of the year, and beat the three time defending champs in a well played exciting 37-16 contest. The win gives the Pioneers a chance to clinch first place in the Peace Division of the MPFL with a win over the always tough South Peace Penguins from Dawson Creek this Friday.

There is no place like home

The Peace River Pioneers won their 4th straight game of the year beating the Provincially ranked Tier 1 Fort McMurray Trappers 24 - 6, and improved their overall record to 4-0 for the year. The Pioneers currently sit in first place of the MPFL with a league record of 3-0. The home win extends the Pioneers home win streak which dates back to the second game of the 2003 season.
