News & Announcements

Next School Council meeting will be on March 6 at 5 pm.

Over the exam break we had four students working hard on a special project, a large mural in the main stairwell, for their Art class. Korrie, Nicky, Kaylee and Bianca painted this mural in three days. The design for the project had been planned for quite some time, as Korrie had been interested in this project for the past couple of months and had drafted the picture. On the leaves falling from the tree are words. These words reflect our values that we have been working as a school towards through our Project Peace group activities that we participate in about once a month. The girls put a lot of thought and effort into the project, and it is a wonderful and colourful addition to our school atmosphere.

We would like to welcome two new teachers to our staff this semester. Stefanie Tolman, moved here this year from Ontario, is teaching Math 20-2, Information Processing, Social Studies 20-2 and Etudes Sociale 10-1. Jessica Stevenson, a first year teacher from U of A, is teaching English Language Arts 9, Critical Thinking 9 and Information Processing.

Our next “Celebration of Student Success” will be on February 29 at 10 am. At this event we would like to celebrate the academic achievements from the first semester, recognize the groups, clubs and teams that have been participating in events, and also award some students with “Nomads Awards” for their extra efforts to contribute to our school and community. We are looking for input from students, parents and community members to recognize these students. If you know of any students that you would like to see recognized please call, stop by, or email the school at owensm@prsd.ab.ca. Your help and input is greatly appreciated by these deserving students!
